Meantime, poor Ellen in the grave was laid;—
Her lone and grey-hair'd mother wept and pray'd:
Soon to the dust she follow'd; and unknown,
There, they both rest without a name or stone.

Pity them, pensive stranger, nor pass by,
Till thou hast said one pray'r, for charity!
