Of unsaciable purchasers
An vnreasonable ryche mandyd ryde by the way
Who for lacke of menne
hadde wyth hym a boye
And as he paste by a pasture
most pleasaunte to se
Of late I haue purchasid
thys grounde Iacke, quod he
Mary maister (quod the boye)
men saye ouer all
That your purchase is greate
but your housholde is smal
what haue they to do?
Woulde they haue me to purchase
and kepe greate house to?
I can not tell (quod the boye)
what maketh them to brawle,
But they saye that ye purchase
the Deuill his dame and all
