Soprano Birgit Nilsson
Performs Here Thursday
Birgit Nilsson, the famous
soprano who has had one hundred
new operatic productions mounted
for her during her career, will
appear in University Hall at 8:30 on
Thursday evening under the
sponsorship of the University's
Artists Series.
Miss Nilsson, who a few years
ago had the unique honor of being
made a lifetime member of the
Vienna State Opera, has also
appeared with the New York
Metropolitan Opera, Paris' Grand
Opera, Milan's La Scala, and the
Stockholm Opera, to name a few.
Her repertoire of roles includes
"Tosca," "Aida," "Turandot,"
"Elektra," and "Isoide."
The program which Miss Nilsson
will perform here highlights
Beethoven's aria. "Ah Perfide,"
Wagner's "Five Wesendonck
Lieder," and Verdi's aria, "Pace,
pace, mio Dio" from "La Forza del
Destino."
Those who are not season
subscribers to the Artists Series
may purchase tickets at $5.00 each
at the Director's Office on the
fourth floor of Newcomb Hall or at
the door.
