Who, in the midst of the highest pursuits, scientific and
political, and the most ingenious and extensive mechanical
combinations, does not disdain to look with an enlarged and
liberal view on those arts, purely imaginative, which, useless
perhaps, as roses in a garden, to the mere purposes of
