It is but Justice to the absent Author to declare, in contradiction to many idle Reports, and injurious Paragraphs, that in this Piece, as in his former, he only proposed an innocent Burlesque; never thinking Ribaldry, Profaneness, or Personal Satire, a proper Entertainment for the Public, to whose experienced Candour and Indulgence he submits the following Burletta.
