Arnette Shaky

Feeling the pressure of Wake's
tenacious defense, quarterback
Gene Arnette had difficulty in the
first half. Although unsuccessful
in six passing attempts in the first
half, Arnette bounced back to complete
five of five in the second
half. Once again, the Cavalier
quarterback maintained the necessary
composure by completing a
19-yard toss to Anderson in a
third-and-eleven situation to keep
the winning Wahoo touchdown
drive alive.

For the third week in a row,
tackle Greg Shelly graded highest
for the offensive linemen. Tom
Patton, the defensive end who
forced one Wake Forest fumble,
and intercepted a pass to halt
another Wake drive, was the
coaches' pick as the game's best
defensive lineman.
