AMENDMENT TO THE LEAVE POLICY FOR GENERAL FACULTY

The following resolution was adopted:

  • WHEREAS it is in the interest of the University to consider appointments for administrative and professional faculty for periods of less than twelve months; and
  • WHEREAS the current policy on annual leave does not address contract cycles other than twelve month or nine month,
  • RESOLVED that the leave policy for members of the General Faculty be and it is hereby amended effective July 1, 1991:
  • Annual Leave: Annual leave is available to all members of the general faculty who hold full-time positionson a twelve month basiswith appointments of a yeartwelve months or longer. These individuals are entitled to twenty two working days of annual leave. Annual leave is granted in accordance with the following schedule:     
    12 month contractual cycle  22 working days 
    11 month contractual cycle  20 working days 
    10 month contractual cycle  18 working days 
    9 month contractual cycle  16 working days 
  • All unused leave lapses at the end of each fiscal year.
  • Instructional faculty who hold appointments on a nine month basis are entitled to observe University holidays and to determine their own hours during semester breaks scheduled in the academic calendar. Instructional nine month faculty do not have specific University responsibilities or duties during the summer apart from those associated with the preparation of materials for the academic year.
  • Part-time members of the general faculty appointed on a twelve month basis are entitled to annual leave in proportion to their working time.
  • There is no compensation made for any unused leave at the time of separation from University employment or transfer to the classified system. Responsibility for record-keeping of annual leave for members of the general faculty lies with the departments.
