A SONG TO ETHIOPIA.

I will sing of Ethiopia, my own rejected race;
Of her noble sons and daughters
That Caucasia will not trace.
Join in the chorus brethren!
Your voice is tuned for song,
Unite each voice together.
And sing it loud and long.
So long we've been rejected!
For since Queen Sheba's reign,
We've fell from wealth to servants;
Have worn the bondage chain.
Unfurl your hidden banners,
In freedom's name for right!
And show to foes our colors,
And sing with all your might!
Sing out with bold defiance,
Sing of Ethiope's bitter lot!
Of Caucasia's deeds ignoble,
That the flood of time can't blot.
Gird on your armor brethren!
God lends a hand this day;
To all who cry for justice,
He'll remember in the fray.

Let the blast of freedom's trumpet
Ring reverberating sound,
Till each foe 'gainst Ethiopia,
Falls exhausted to the ground.
Bold We'll sing of Ethiopia,
Let it come from every mouth,
Till it fill wood-land and mountain;
Through the North and through the South.
