The 1971 edition of the Cavalier baseball team, expected by many to be a contender for the ACC crown, opens its season this afternoon at 2:30 at Lambeth Field. Captain Ed Kihm, a four game winner last spring, is expected to be on the mound for the Cavaliers as Coach Jim West begins his tenth year at the helm. Seventeen lettermen return to give the team, which finished at 10-10 in the ACC last season, its brightest outlook in years with depth at every position and a strong pitching corps.
