First-Year Men Rally
Virginia fought to control the
ball. Down in Tar Heel territory
first-year man Jay Connor worked
his way in front of the goal and
flipped a pass to another first-year
man, middlefielder Bob Proutt, who flung
the ball in for a score, to tle the
game 2-2.
The second half was Virginia's.
Charlie Rullman: got his second
assist of the day and Jim Potter got
a point. Rullman then scored on a
pass from Connor as the Cavaliers
pulled further ahead, 4-2.
Sheipp and Peterson eased up
again and ended the scoring for
UNC on the same combination,
Sheipp to Peterson.
Another first-year man, Pete
Eldridge, proved that he could help
the team as he scooped up his own
missed shot and fired it in to put
Virginia out in front at the half,
5-3.
