Scholarships, Cars

The car regulations for students on
scholarship deserve a good look by University
officials for remodeling them into a
more fairer system.

According to an official at the Student
Aid Office students who have athletic grants
in aid or students who have ROTC scholarships
may operate a automobile if they meet
University grade requirements.

The discrepancy lies with students who
hold University or federal scholarships and
are not allowed to have cars. Theoretically
these people have grants based on need,
and should not be able to afford automobiles.
In other cases, however, the scholarships
are given strictly on merit basis for
academic achievement. We feel these people
as well as those on need grants should be
able to operate vehicles, when the case
allows.
