To knowe the cenyth of the altitude of the sonne.

This is no more to seyn but eny tyme of the day tak the altitude of the sonne, and by the azymut in which he stondith maist thou seen in which partie of the firmament he is. And the same wise maist thou seen by night, of eny sterre, wheither the sterre sitte est or west, or north or south, or eny partie bitwene, after the name of the azimut in which is the sterre.
