38 Quatuor Monarchiæ.
The Babylonian, with ambitious fist,First the grand Sceptre of the World possest:
The Persian, Him; The Grecian, Him dismist:
Him, th'awfull Roman after dispossest:
And Him, his Owne Waight let not long subsist;
Him, his Owne Greatnes ruin'd with the rest.
Who then (alas!) this Fall of Monarchs seeing,
Can hope in Earth for an eternall Beeing?
