B Team Ball Disappears
The B team completely
outclassed Lynchburg in a game
marred by an unfortunate incident
in the opening minutes of the
match. Allegedly, several "Virginia
gentlemen" attending a nearby
party thought it would be great fun
to kidnap the Rugby ball. Some
Lynchburg players gave chase, and
according to eyewitnesses, two of
their players were kicked while
lying on the ground and required
hospital treatment. Cooler heads
prevented an out-and-out brawl.
The match itself was marked by
the well-placed kicking of Henry
Dudley and some fine running by
Paul Bishop and Butch Dietler.
Tries were scored by Dietler,
Dudley, Bishop, and Bill Hazelton.
Bishop also managed two
conversions.
