English Comps
There will be a meeting of fourth-year
English majors Monday (Cocke Hall 15, 8
p.m.) to discuss the abolition of, or
alternatives to, comprehensive examinations.
After the students have had time to develop
their opinion on the matter, Mr. Kirsch,
chairman of undergraduate English, will enter
the meeting to hear them and to present his
opinions.
Comps are under intensive scrutiny in all
departments. The result of it all will very
likely be some change from current policy in
years to come, if not this year. We encourage
all fourth-year English majors to attend this
meeting so that the recommendation, which
comes from it, when it is used in
consideration of what changes should be
made, will be an accurate reflection of
students' opinion on the matter.
