The poetical works of John and Charles Wesley | ||
1131.
[Surely the promise is for me]
Surely the promise is for me,
Mine eyes shall in His beauty see
The King of saints above.
I shall on all His glories gaze,
And hymn in everlasting lays
The majesty of love.
Mine eyes shall in His beauty see
The King of saints above.
I shall on all His glories gaze,
And hymn in everlasting lays
The majesty of love.
Where angels in His presence stand,
I shall behold the heavenly land
Of full felicity;
Far from this vale of sin and woe,
My raptured soul the God shall know,
Who bought the land for me.
I shall behold the heavenly land
Of full felicity;
Far from this vale of sin and woe,
My raptured soul the God shall know,
Who bought the land for me.
I only wait till Thou impart
Thyself, the earnest, to my heart,
The pure and perfect grace,
The meetness for that blissful sight,
And then surround me with the light
Of Thy unclouded face.
Thyself, the earnest, to my heart,
The pure and perfect grace,
The meetness for that blissful sight,
And then surround me with the light
Of Thy unclouded face.
