Shakespeare, Ballet

Not only is there more to come,
but as a "special", the Series will
present the Oxford Cambridge
Shakespeare Company in "Hamlet"
on December 15 in Cabell Hall.
Their performance of "the Tempest"
last year in Charlottesville
was superb.

For ballet buffs, the Pennsylvania
Ballet, an American company
which cherishes the great traditions
of classical ballet, will perform here
on Monday, February 8. The Pennsylvania
Ballet has enjoyed coverage
in prominent news media such as
the New York Times Newsweek,
and Time magazine.

Romeros, Celedine Romero and
his three sons, Celin, Pepe, and
Angel will be here in Charlottesville
on Monday, March 1, not as what
might first be thought as a trapeze
act but as guitarists. They have
been called the "Royal Family of
Spanish Guitar."

The last performance in the Artists
Series will be on Wednesday,
April 14 with Pianist, Leonard
Pennario who has performed extensively
with many of the world's
greatest orchestras and who as a
recitalist has received international
acclaim for his lengthy annual tours
of America and Europe.

Tickets for the Artists Series are
available at Newcomb Hall. Season
tickets are $10.00.

For the more esoterically inclined,
there is the Tuesday Evening
Concert Series sponsored by the
Music Department. These concerts
tend almost exclusively toward
chamber music and recitals performed
by first rate ensembles.
