[Father, how kind Thou art]
My son, give Me thine heart.
—xxiii. 26.
Father, how kind Thou art,
To ask my evil heart!
But yet Thou dost; and I
Have found the reason why:
Thou want'st to make it good,
By washing it in blood,
And then to reign alone
Upon Thy favourite throne.
