University of Virginia Library

Special Issue

With this issue, The Cavalier Daily ends its
regular publication schedule for the fall
semester. Today's is not the last issue of the
semester, however, for Tuesday The Cavalier
Daily will publish a "Special Legislative
Supplement" in place of a regular issue.

This supplement, to be distributed both
at the University and in Richmond and to
be mailed to other newspapers around the
state, will be devoted to discussion of major
issues facing the General Assembly meeting
in Mr. Jefferson's Capitol this week. Special
attention will be devoted, needless to say,
to the University's budget requests for the
coming biennium.

The lead article will be "The Changed
World of the 1968 Virginia General Assembly,"
by Ralph Eisenberg, associate professor
of government, and an authority
on state and local politics.

In publishing this supplement, The Cavalier
Daily is attempting to increase the
awareness of the state legislators that the
future of quality education in the Commonwealth
is in their hands more than ever
before in what doubtless will prove an
history-making session. We are also trying
to make students more aware of the issues
of state government, so often ignored or
overshadowed by the glamor of national
politics.
