When the Night's black Curtain, spread,
Hides the Day, and Light bereaveth;
Then, my wakening Thought conceiveth
Other Night, more dark, more dread:
There where Worldlings, wilfull-blinde,
Loath Instruction, leave Light's Mirror,
Double-nighted in dark Error;
Self put-outing Light of Minde.
