TO Dr. PEPUSCH.
Lovers and Connoisseurs of Sound agreeThat Music's Art, Pepusch! owes much to thee;
For Thou, a painful Champion in her Cause,
Hast methodiz'd her controverted Laws.
Thy long unwearied Labour and deep Thought
Her Problems have to Demonstration brought:
Whose Rules, unerring, such Conviction give,
That, 'till the Science dies, thy Name must live.
