With Bob Jones
Dear Sir:
If your recent "Long-Haired
Ushers" isn't the silliest goddamn
(sic) editorial I've ever read, It's
surely the most pathetic. The
writer's contention that long hair
and "mod clothes" perforce bring
"enjoyment" of a concert by an
entertainer such as Miss Joplin,
whereas short hair belongs only to
the "inimical" generation of
Lawrence Welk fans smacks of a
sophomoric sort of stereotyping
ordinarily found only in the
grossest racial and ethnic epithets.
If Virginia gentlemen have become
such knee-jerk radicals as the writer
implies, perhaps the University
should merge with Bob Jones U.;
then we could have a student body
typifying nay, personifying
ignorance on both ends of the
spectrum.
