WEDNESDAY

Superfly, and Wild Riders
(Ridge; 7:30 p.m.; $1.50)
Through Saturday.

The Trial (Wilson Hall;
4:30, 7 and 9 p.m.; Series
ticket) If you're hoping to see
Kafka on the screen you're in
the wrong place, but if sheer
visual bravura, the
breath-taking mastery of a
theatrical style that makes no
attempt to disguise itself,
excites you, then The Trial is
your movie. Here Orson Welles
and Franz Kafka work at
cross-purposes and the result is
certainly not a great movie, but
it is a great display of the
possibilities of a visual style so
lavishly expressive that it
becomes more exciting that the
so-called plot of the film.

King Kong (Paramount;
1,3,5,7, and 9 p.m.; $2) The
world's most beloved giant ape.
Personally the movie appeals to
me because I've got a dirty
mind and I'm intrigued with
the phallic possibilities and
improbabilities of the Empire
State Building. If you haven't
seen a giant ape run amuck in
New York lately here's your
chance. Wednesday and
Thursday.
