QUOCUNQUE MODO REM.
You remember Prince Volscius, hip-hop, in the play,
With a single jack-boot, how he stump'd it away:—
But as this is a more economical age,
Our prigs of the town scout the Prince on the stage;
And because a great feat they're determin'd to do,
From what would make one boot, contrive to make two:

Tho' 'twould puzzle all algebra's students the while,
To adjust the true odds, on comparison fair,
Between one pair of halves, and one half of a pair!—
