Sometime Sunday night bags of red paint were hurled at the front of the Virginia Bank branch on the Corner. A spokesman for the bank said that damage amounted to about $1,000, including the cost of repainting the building. He expressed the hope that the incident involved no one from the University community, saying instead that "some redneck" was probably responsible. Bank officials have not ruled out the possibility that the act was a political one, and Charlottesville police are investigating.
