Student Wins In
Speech Contest

Dennis W. Miller, a fourth-year
man from Charlottesville is
the winner of the 1968 Public
Speaking Contest of the McIntire
School of Commerce, held May
7 in Rouss Hall.

Miller's speech was on the trend
toward a consumer-oriented economy
in the Soviet Union and
increases in consumer-goods trade
between the U. S. and Russia.
He was awarded a $150 prize,
donated by an anonymous alumnus
of the School.

The annual contest, open to all
fourth year Commerce students,
is held to encourage students in
business to increase public speaking
skills. Speeches must be on
business topics and are judged
by faculty members of the Commerce
School and speech teachers
from the University.
