Dabney. There are a few scattered references to slaves, such as a
document hiring a slave in January 1865; a
February 10, 1867, letter from Alice
Dabney (a former slave) to "Old
Master"; and a March 17, 1885, letter from
another former slave, George Page, to Susan Dabney Smedes.
