'Twas there she stopt—a sudden gleam display'd
A figure gliding 'midst the rock's deep shade,
Which near her swift approaching, soon she knew
The form of Ivan stood before her view.

“Say, art thou fearless of th' approach of harm?
“Why thus alone—thus unprotected roam
“So late, and distant from thy peaceful home?”
