Mistake me not, ungrateful Fair!Nor think you give the pain:
How great soe'er your Falshoods are,
I'll meet them with Disdain.

The Fault, alas! was wholly mine,Nor to be charg'd on you:
How wild, how idle the design
To keep a Woman true!

More easie would the project be(So well are you inclin'd)
To stop the Motion of the Sea,
Or to confine the Wind.

So zealously dispos'd to rangeIs every Female heart,
They're still by Nature prone to range,
And constant but by Art.

Then, Cynthia, let us both agreeThis method to pursue;
