Computer Created
Sights And Sounds

After the ordeal of registration,
very few students at the University
would believe that a computer is
capable of creating anything worth
looking at or listening to Computer
Creations of Charlottesville, in
conjunction with Donald MacInnis
of the Music Department will
demonstrate the versatility of our
electrical administrators on the
nights of October 14, 15, 16, in the
Minor Hall Little Theater.

The show is billed as 'Aesthetic
Cybernetics', a multi-media presentation
of computer art and music
Lloyd Summer of Computer Creations
will provide the visual while
Donald MacInnis supplies the auditory
stimulus.

Lloyd Summer uses three screens
to show computer animated
movies, abstract and extreme closeup
photography, and slides of over
100 of his most significant computer
art drawings.

Donald MacInnis uses four
speakers for his recorded computer
music, and will perform original
compositions on an ARP synthesizer.
The Randolph-Macon Dance
Group will do a dance choreographed
especially to Quadrilith a
MacInnis Composition.

Mr. Summer has been creating
computer animated movies and
computer art for six years, and is
the author of the book 'Computer
Art and Human Response.' He sells
his art around the world and has
had ten major exhibits in foreign
countries as well as many exhibits
in the U.S.

Donald MacInnis has been
creating computer music since 1965.
His works have been performed by
numerous orchestras around the
U.S. He was composer in residence
with the Atlanta Symphony in
1968-69.

The world premiere of Aesthetic
Cybernetics is sponsored by the
Departments of Art and Music and
the Computer Science Center. The
show will begin at 8:30. Tickets are
available at Mincer's, Newcomb
Hall, and at the Computer Science
Center in Gilmer Hall. Student
Tickets are $1,00, general public,
$1.50.
