Letters:
Verbal Diarrhea
Dear Sir:
Now that we have been subjected
to Mr. Montgomery's pedantic
outpouring of verbal diarrhea, I
assume we are all to consider ourselves
enlightened on the matter of
the New Left (letter, Jan. 7). However,
his juvenile generalizations,
simplemindedness ("...war is not
chosen as an alternative to peace;
but as the alternative to enslavement
and unilateral aggression and
slaughter.") (!) and questionable
logic belie his supposed erudition.
Mr. Montgomery's amazing
grasp of contemporary New Left
philosophy is only exceeded by his
brilliant exposition of 19th century
theology, much of which is sadly
out of touch with today's world
and of dubious veracity to boot.
