Love Potion Anyone?
By Brewster Moseley
As Coleridge envisioned it in his This comely creature will be available
pipe dream, Xanadu was a sort of
beatific nirvana in which one could
exist in a state of total oblivion to
external reality. Complete with its
own sacred river (Alph), a myriad
XANADU'S SORCERESS—
tomorrow night to give love potions to anyone who feels his love-life
is lacking.
located "sunny spots of
greenery," Xanadu even sported a
witch who wailed for her demon
lover in an enchanted chasm beneath
the waning moon.
Although the Xanadu with
which we are all so familiar has
certainly given Kubla Khan's
pleasure dome close competition
(atmospherically speaking, that is),
it has not yet been graced with the
draconian presence of a sorceress.
Tomorrow night, however,
Xanadu will feature it own sorceress
who will be on hand to
administer love potions to anyone
who feels that his (or her) love life
could stand a little Paphian rejuvenation.
As an added attraction, and one
which exemplifies the true spirit of
Halloween, a Black Mass will be
held at midnight. A personal appearance
by Lucifer himself is anticipated,
but whether or not he can
be successfully conjured will depend
largely on the frame of mind
in which the mass is performed.
While love potions are being
given out in Xanadu, a "free sing"
will be held in the Prism. Anyone
who would like to perform is welcome
to do so.
As usual the Prism will be open
from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., and no cover
charge will be asked.
