EPIGRAM CLXIX.
[Our glorious Queen Bess, 'tis in story recorded]
PLUS ULTRA.
Our glorious Queen Bess, 'tis in story recorded,
At some season more solemn of festival sport,
With the law's highest honours Lord Hatton rewarded,
For dancing so gracefully nimble at Court.
At some season more solemn of festival sport,
With the law's highest honours Lord Hatton rewarded,
For dancing so gracefully nimble at Court.
For integrity, candour, sense, learning, and spirit,
Of each sage, on each bench, we may justly talk big;
But the Queen had, we find, one more standard of merit;
'Twas superior address—in performing a jig!
Of each sage, on each bench, we may justly talk big;
But the Queen had, we find, one more standard of merit;
'Twas superior address—in performing a jig!
