“I was born in a stall
Betwen bestis two,
To this world browght in thrall,
To leve in care & woo.

Whan I was VIII days elde,
The lawe fulfilled I thoo,
Circumsised as a childe;
Than began all my woo.

My-selff I went hym froo,

I toke þe cros on my bak full still;
To Caluary than muste I goo;
I sett it down vpon an hill,
With other crossis moo.

Hondis & fette they naylid also;
& a theff on euery side,
To lykyn my body too.

Water & blode þer owt ran;
