[Old Bishop Ivo met one day]

Old Bishop Ivo met one day,
As he went up and down the lands,
A stern, sad woman on her way,
With fire and water in her hands;
In this hand water, that hand fire,
And she was filled with holy ire.
“What mean those symbols, Mother, tell?
And whither go you?” She replies:
“To quench with this the flames of Hell,
With this to burn up Paradise.
Fear, hope must nevermore be known,
But man serve God through love alone.”
