[Without that sin-consuming fire]
The fire of the Lord fell, and consumed, &c.
—xviii. 38.
Without that sin-consuming fire,
The priests of Baal pray in vain,
And teach, as taught by the old liar,
“Sin cannot be consumed in man!”
But who Elijah's God believe,
And wait His coming from above,
We shall the Holy Ghost receive,
The Spirit pure of burning love.
