['Tis thus the Lord my God descends]

He stretched himself upon the child. —xvii. 21.

'Tis thus the Lord my God descends
To raise a sinner from the dead,
His goodness over me extends,
And covers with His Spirit's shade,
Himself (amazing grace!) applies,
Inspires me with celestial powers,
And bids my quicken'd spirit rise,
And to my Father's arms restores.
