[To bring my former sins to mind]
Art thou come to call my sin to remembrance, &c.
—xvii. 18.
To bring my former sins to mind,
My comforts, Lord, Thou dost remove,
Revoke Thy gifts, severely kind,
And chasten me in jealous love:
The father's sin hath slain the son:
And if it still my offspring slays,
Deep humbled in the dust I own
Righteous and good are all Thy ways!
