LINES WRITTEN ON THE SUMMIT OF HELVELLYN, IN JULY, 1804.

Mortal, whose feet this hallow'd hill have trod,
The throne of earth, the altar of thy God!
Here view the tempest, in his flight sublime,
Pursue the clouds o'er many a distant clime:
Extend thine ardent gaze from shore to shore,
“Admire the works of God, and then adore!”
