An Impression
A sound of the sea is in my ears,
Of the sea that knows no rest;
His muttering boughs the willow rears,
For a wind is in the west.
Of the sea that knows no rest;
His muttering boughs the willow rears,
For a wind is in the west.
A wind was born in the western sky
When the day was wed to night,
For bridals and birth the torch flared high
In the day-god's halls of light.
When the day was wed to night,
For bridals and birth the torch flared high
In the day-god's halls of light.
I stand on the river-shore alone,
And I gaze on the lordly scene,
On vanishing sun, and rising moon,
And the sable girth between.
And I gaze on the lordly scene,
On vanishing sun, and rising moon,
And the sable girth between.
