Blood, Gore In Valley Of Wives

By Steve Grimwood
Cavalier Daily Staff Writer

"Doctors Wifes:" Several
alcoholics, one junkie, two or three
lesbians, and one dead. Needless to
say, they all add up to create an
especially bad movie.

The selling point for this film (in
the promoter's mind) is the
inclusion of Dyan Cannon in the
"starring" role. Along with the rest
of the movie, this is also a farce.

Miss Cannon is seen for perhaps
the first ten minutes. She drops a
few cliched one-liners ("God, I feel
horny"), lets everyone know what a
fabulous lay she is, and quickly
exits after being shot by her
husband in the act of copulation
with (you guessed it) another
doctor.

Dyan Cannon

From this seeming nadir in the
history of film, the movie
amazingly manages to descend
further into the depths previously
established by "The Valley of the
Dolls."

Highlights: Watching the bullet
that Miss Cannon's unfortunate
lover manages to catch (he lives,
because, of course, she was on top)
being removed from his heart;
marveling at the female med
student who is tape-recording her
reactions while balling; cringing at
lines such as the one delivered by
the mistress to her lover: "I don't
appreciate, you sleeping with you
wife."

If you believe the patent crap
put out by the scandal magazines,
you'll really like this movie. If you
have any taste whatsoever, you'll
avoid "Doctors Wives" like the
plague.
