Give Camp Faith For Christmas

By Helen Snook

(Mrs. Snook is the President of
the Board of Camp Faith,
Inc.

Before you buy the 99th
necktie, lace handkerchief,
executive plaything, or coffee table
what-is-it...before you spend $$$
on things for people who already
have too many things...THINK

One of the most meaningful
ways to honor someone who has
helped you is to follow his or her
example and pass on the help to
another human being.

Summer Recreation

Most of us have too much - too
many possessions to worry about,
care for, move, clean under. But
many of our fellow human beings
have too little - too little of the
world's wealth, too little
opportunity, too little concern
from people who could help.

Confidence, friendship,
sportsmanship, swimming, boating,
crafts and sports skills, and two
weeks of tender loving care are
offered to Charlottesville and
Albemarle County children who
would not otherwise have a summer
camping and recreational
opportunity - at Camp Faith, a
day camp that is the high point of
the year for almost a thousand
young people. Area teenagers
manage the program and learn
about responsibility, individual
dignity and concern for their fellow
man under the direction of a
college-age staff supported by area
churches and civic leaders.

Funding

Aside from a Poverty Program
lunch grant, all expenses are paid
by local contributions...and that's
where YOU can help now to pay
the way for 1,2,20, or 100 campers
at $15 each. In addition, special
amounts are needed and can be
earmarked for the athletic program.
$50 will buy the bats, balls and
gloves for the athletic field or
volleyballs and nets and other balls,
or a selection of equipment for
horseshoes, croquet, archery and
other less active games for very hot
days. $25 will purchase items not
donated to the arts and crafts
supply closet scissors, glues and
pastes, special clay for the kiln,
perhaps the liquid plastic to make
casts of leaves, seed pods and other
nature study objects.

$300 will buy a canoe, paddles
and life jackets for the boating
program that every Camp Faith
child looks forward to with great
glee.

$5 contributions add up
significantly and donations are
welcomed in any amount.
