Darkness Of Night

Just as the process of arranging a
blind date by phone offers emotional
protection, the darkness of
night seems to bring courage to the
hesitant U.Va. man. Girls walking
at night are constantly shouted at
by boys in passing cars or propositioned.
One girl reports that one
evening as she walked across Nameless
field she was stopped by six
boys who offered her $100 apiece.
"I almost started to cry right
there."

One second year girl interviewed
asked "Please just write in your
article that we aren't all dated up
until Faster and that we are human."
Her blond companion added
"I just wish they would come
over to the dorm and talk to us. If
there is no one in the lounge they
could buzz one of the buzzers and
if they didn't like the girl who came
down, they could say they had
buzzed her room by mistake."
