NAMING OF HEREFORD COLLEGE
The following resolution was adopted:
- WHEREAS Frank Loucks Hereford, Jr., an alumnus of the University of Virginia, has served the University with great devotion and distinction in many ways, notably as Professor of Physics, as Provost, and as President of the University; and
- WHEREAS during his tenure as President, Mr. Hereford took particular interest in the concept of the residential college, nurturing this concept into the establishment of the first college, the residential college on Monroe Hill;
- RESOLVED that the New College will henceforth be known as the Frank L. Hereford, Jr., College, and that the University will constitute an appropriate volunteer organization to solicit endowment support for the Hereford College.
