Poe commends Osgood's powers of passionate expression
and notes her lack of pretension and ambition. The review was published in
Southern Literary Messenger in August of 1849 (vol.
XV, no. 8, pp. 509-515). This manuscript fragment comprises the first
page and a half of the review.
