February 22, 1861 from William Douglass to Dr. James H. Minor

Dr Sir

I recd your letter per
M. C. Stevens and was much pleased with the contents
thereof. I have seen Dr Harner in Liberia. I & him
came togeother to Liberia and I was very glad to see him
again on our shore. it was my intention to have came
over in the "Stevens" this time myself but defer it for
another times on account of bad news.

I hereby forward you a
Receipt for $50.. paid to Dr. G. Hall You will please
receive the money and divide it among my chrildrens
$10 = each. Please give my best regards to all my friends
and relations. also request them to write me as they can about
my children. I doeing as well here as I can or could
have expected to do in a new country.

I and family are
quite well. Trusting these may find you and family
in good health,
