Better Glories.
There is a glory of the sun
When Morning breaks her golden waves;
But better glories are begun
When saints are gathered in their graves.
When Morning breaks her golden waves;
But better glories are begun
When saints are gathered in their graves.
Here to the shadows we commit
The dearest treasure that we knew;
While the sweet soul, companion fit,
Looks out behind the ether blue.
The dearest treasure that we knew;
While the sweet soul, companion fit,
Looks out behind the ether blue.
The seal of God's accomplished will
Rests on the marble of her face:
We fear for her no painful ill,
No faith obscured, no failing grace.
Rests on the marble of her face:
We fear for her no painful ill,
No faith obscured, no failing grace.
In this calm spot their ashes rest
Whose angels tread the upper air:
Sweet friend, such peace infold thy breast
As crowns God's children everywhere.
Whose angels tread the upper air:
Sweet friend, such peace infold thy breast
As crowns God's children everywhere.
