Clouds of evil warning
Veil thy forehead grand:
Mournest thou for morning,
O my Mother-land?

Soft! the light is breaking!
From the hero soul
Unto dawn awaking,
Freedom's peans roll.

In the sunshine clearly
Spreads the battle strife;
Hero blood drops dearly,
Right shall pay for life.

Night's alliance scorning,
Freedom's royal hand,
Crowns thee with the morning,
O my Mother-land.
