112. Of Roman Flora. To the Grammarians.

To Flora, Rome, did Flowers sacrifice;
And her the goddess of Flowers, devise.
But she, of a good Name, was Prodigal;
And therefore never brought forth fruit, at all:
But being wanton, in her youthful Flower;
Flower, and Fruit, that Canker did devour.
