Edward his plaintive accent heard,
And sooth'd him thus with gentle word:

“No page of Constance de Castile
“Shall in my hall unhonour'd kneel.
“Thou'rt welcome for thy office, page!
“Thou'rt welcome for thy tender age:
“Thrice welcome for thy lady fair:
“Freely the festive banquet share.”
